I passed the exam in my first attempt!

This book delivers what it promises. I bought this book to prepare for my CAPM exam and passed it in the first try. I think I read the book cover to cover in about 10 days. In addition to the practice test given in the book, I signed up for the 7-day free membership at Velociteach website and practiced a few questions from each knowledge area. I also took a free exam from PMStudy. Contrary to what others have mentioned here, I felt that the actual exam questions were very similar to the practice questions given in the book except for about 10 questions which seemed unfamiliar. Note to self: Learn all acronyms when preparing for PMP :-) I agree with the other reviewers that some of the information (like the "Special section for the Critical Path Diagram") that the author refers to in the book is missing.
Although I am giving 4 stars to this book, I wouldn't recommend it because:
1) This book is outdated as its based on the 3rd edition of PMBOK guide while the CAPM exam is now based on the 4th edition and there are a few but significant updates.
2) The course material is same for both PMP and CAPM so why not buy the author's PMP book based on the 4th edition of PMBOK guide. I am sure that after passing the CAPM exam in your first attempt, you would want to take the PMP exam as well and the extra preparation will tremendously help you!
One useful tip: Whether you are preparing for PMP or CAPM, you really gotta know all the inputs, tools and outputs for each of the 44 (according to the 3rd edition) processes as defined by PMI.

Excellent book, though not perfect

Just passed the CAPM (first try) after reading this book and taking the Velociteach course. The book was very helpful and easy to read (at least as study guides go), far less daunting than the PMBOK. The focus on inputs-tools-outputs is invaluable, and the book graphics are well-organized for recall in the exam. I thought the sample questions were a little easy compared to what I'd find on the exam. The InSite membership is very useful too and helped "sell" me on this book vs. Rita Mulcahy's and others.
However, the book can be a little confusing for two reasons: first, some of the quiz/exam questions are poorly phrased or simply incorrect (my instructor indicated the next version will correct many of these), and second, there are some references to things that are not in the book, e.g. a special section on Critical Path; maybe this was left over from the PMP text? Sometimes the incorrect text made me have to look back at the PMBOK which was a good thing overall, since I wouldn't recommend relying on this book alone.
I HIGHLY recommend the Velociteach course based on this book - often is a combined PMP/CAPM class but if you are a visual learner it is a huge help for the exam (no I do not get a cut from them for saying that!). Also, as other reviewers have alluded to, PMBOK version 4 was released in Dec. 2008 and starting in July 2009, the exam will be based on version 4 (this book is based on version 3). Just be aware in case you're buying the book or planning to take the exam as we approach July.

The Best One-stop Review for CAPM

My company uses this book exclusively for all CAPM candidates and we have found that no other books or review course are reaquired so long as this book is used. The book is straight-forward and like it's PMP counterpart, provides chapter tests and a post-test that very closely mirror to types of questions included on the exam. Although there is a lucrative market for CAPM and PMP exam preparation, using the Andy Crowe series will save any company tens of thousands of dollars while also ensuring candidates are prepared for the exam.
