About the Author
DAMON AMIN MEADOWS, a native from the streets of South Philadelphia, is the proud father of two beautiful daughters. Chosen by his Muslim brothers as the Imam within the federal prison where he s based, AMIN is also the co-author of the controversial novel, CONVICT S CANDY, writing the heartfelt book while serving time, educating the masses on life behind bars from his own personal perspective; while seriously instilling the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness. In 1993, AMIN was tried and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, being only a first-time offender. Through his faith in Allah, AMIN has been successful in the appellant process, given a release date that will grant him his freedom in the near future.
JASON POOLE was born and raised in Washington, DC and is the proud father of two sons. In 1996, he was incarcerated on a drug violation charge, and served a ten-year illegal sentence, due to an erroneous enhancement.
The two talented writers' purpose for writing CONVICT'S CANDY was to expose what was really going on behind the prison walls, in addition to educating readers everywhere, especially those in high-risk urban areas, about HIV transmissions and how the crisis is leading among African-American females.

Candy Ain't the only one who is SWEET!

I picked up Convicts Candy after hearing numerous great reviews about this book in one of my books clubs. They described it as a serious reality check and many couldn't believe what they were reading. Convicts Candy was written by two men while they were incarcerated. So even though this book is fiction I believe the situations in this story are a true reality in our society.
Convicts Candy is the gruel reality of a transgender who is incarcerated doing a prison term behind bars. The Authors of this book take to you to the realism of down-low men or 'trade' as they're called in the pen. With many mind blowing scenes and situations that take place, this novel will have you turning the pages so fast you'll never want to put it down. However, pay very close attention because at the end there is a lesson that will have you petrified.
I rated this book 5 stars. Not only was the book filled with a great lesson but the Authors took a chance with the story, discussing what many people are not aware of. This novel was VERY VERY well written and I recommend it to everyone!

Ghetto "Memoirs of a Geisha"

This book sort of reminded me of the novel Memoirs of a Geisha because of its real look into a culture that I was unfamiliar with. It possessed the glamour, fashion and darkside of what most folks enjoyed about that popular novel although through a transexual's eye. I really was able to connect with Candy the main character and feel sorry for the mistakes that she made and bad luck that fell upon her. I also thought it was interesting how the author dealt with the issues of how real women view transexuals and the jealousy and back bitting that occurs.
I enjoyed the book a lot! It was definetly a page turner for me and as a new writer of My Eyes Are Green I look for books that inrigue and inspire me to want to write a great story and this book did just that for me. I am excited to see if there will be a follow-up with J-Lo because it seems like it would be a very interesting read.

Just when you think you've read it all !!!!!!!

I loved this book from begining to end. To get to the heart of the story you had to be in Andy's world. If this was a real life story, lord have mercy. It told of the tales of how one man(born woman on the inside of hisself) contacts HIV it takes you into a world wind of plot after plot after plot, and some of the scenes in the book were like wooooo!!!!!. Convict's Candy had me so enthralled with the book, I had to look Paris Gotti up on YouTube. This is a must read book. Because in the end it told the begining and I would definitely reread the book.
