Volumes 1 and 2 - are truly clarion calls for all lightworkers that care about the future of Humanity and our Planet. The only books that present both the causes of current events and the solutions, which need to be implemented to help humanity in these difficult times of transition into the New Golden Age. Outstanding books! There are no others that represent Truth in such courageous way. I read each volume few times and make it a frequent gift for my friends. This work is truly inspired by Light!

Michael P. Mau has done an excellent job of articulating and interpreting the events happening now, leading up to and beyond 2012. My mind was expanded page after page from the insights and revelations in this book.

Alice Bailey style prophecy

The author describes himself as the amanuensis, not the channel for this work, in other words this is inspired writing based on research, not channeled writing whose only source is spirit. This work will be particularly enjoyable to theosophists who appreciate Alice Bailey who the author quotes on many occasions. He also quotes Madame Blavatsky and Godfre Rae King among others. He talks about etheric bodies, lightbearers, Root Races, a spiritual hierarchy, the role and importance of intuition, inner knowledge and meditation.

First Dr Mau does a recap of the global warming prophecies from vol 1. "Main Cities Permanently Inundated--The 70 percent of the population living on flat coastal plains resides in 11 of the world's 15 largest cities, located on the coast, bays and estuaries. Major financial and trade centres--New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco. Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City. Singapore, Calcutta, Dubai, Dublin and London. will eventually be destroyed by flooding. The financial districts of Singapore, Mumbai, and Hong Kong/Macau sit on manmade landfill at the present sea level. Bangkok, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and New Orleans - and which of us can forget the sight of those levees - are barely above the present sea level." He names other big coastal cities like Los Angeles, talks about the splitting of the United States as the Great Lakes region expands and widens the Mississippi. He speaks of Earthquakes, high winds, tsunamis and other sources of potential damage.

His style of prophecy is based the earth cleansing itself of the negative elements of greed, corruption and societal malaise so that a new Golden Age can emerge in place of the old via a three stage period of reconstruction. The reformed society would be free of bankers and politicians. This is NOT the kind of quantum leap of consciousness to a New Earth in the fifth dimension style of prophecy.

His Golden Age comes from an emphasis on Ageless Wisdom of a Divine Plan and the uniting of beliefs that would "meld all the teachings of these early religions into a one world spiritual teaching." "Their labour of love will serve as preparation for the coming world teacher."

"Living for the acquisition of material goods, power, or pleasures will no longer satisfy survivors. Something higher must motivate them. There will be no shopping centres, no endless streams of electronic entertainment, no more wars for money and power and no more industries to titillate the senses. Life will be fairly basic and mankind will appreciate once again the small things in life. The bloom of the rosebud, the rising and setting of the sun, nature's way of communicating with mankind, will once again stimulate a co-partnership between mankind and its host, the earth. The desire for more knowledge within a framework of cosmic law will again resound in our souls--the I AM within. Knowledge that awakens latent knowledge--discovery-- is very much part of Soul Liberation and should drive the individual to search and search for more. All will have access to this bountiful knowledge..." "Spiritual progression and evolution will again become the main vectors of life."

The book is easy to read, but rather gloomy. It contains a few illustrations, a timetable chart and a bibliography. Recommended for theosophists

Bill Broxton is the DEA agent assigned to protect the Prime Minister of Trinidad from the Salizar drug cartel. They are using Trinidad as staging area to get their product into the United States, however, they are leaving a lot of their cocaine behind in the small island nation and Prime Minister Ramsingh has sworn to put an end to it.

George Chandee is the Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago. He is secretly working with the Salizar drug cartel. His reward in aiding them in killing the PM, the prime minister's job.

Dani Street is the daughter of the American Ambassador to Trinidad. She is also the girl Broxton is in love with. He plans on asking her to marry him when he gets to Trinidad. What he doesn't know is that she leads a secret life as the international assassin known only as the Scorpion. She has been hired by Chandee and the drug barons to assassinate the prime minister.

SCORPION is a thriller that will grab you from page one and it won't let you go until the chilling climax. I just like a different one in every port. Wait! does that sound sexist, I didn't mean it to sound that way. It's just that I was married to the finest woman that ever lived for twenty-three years. She's gone now, cancer. I could never deal with all that pain again, so now all my relationships are like ships passing in the night.

I didn't start writing till the love of my life passed. It seems like all of a sudden I had an urge to entertain, you know to take my mind and the mind of others off the daily grind of ordinary living. I'm no Hemingway, no Mailer. I don't write because I've got something important to say, or to educate, or to influence. I write to entertain, only to entertain. It's enough. And if I help a person here or there to escape his pain or sorrow, or even if I just help someone wile away a boring afternoon, I'll feel like I've done my job.

What's so great about this book?!?

I bought this book based on others reviews and was REALLY dissapointed in the book, particularly the ending, if you can call it that. The story line is weak, the characters are non-believable and the so called ending is just plain stupid. This is not a thriller, not a nail biting read, it is just a boring book. A harrowing first chapter? Absolutely not. A stay up all night read? No, not even close. The reviewers need to read Tom Clancy, John Sandford, Robert Crais, Jeffery Deaver, Nelson DeMille, Harlan Coben, John Lescroart, Vince Flynn to get a great thriller of a read. Jack Stewart needs a long way to go to get into the same league as the above mentioned authors!

Trinidad a bomb goes off.During this crisis Broxton saves Maria

Lawson.He notices that she has a blackeye.This shiner has been

given to her by her husband Sheriff Earl Lawson.Broxton is also

flying to Trinidad to ask his childhood sweetheart Dani Street to marry him.

Unknown to him Dani is really the hired assassin "The Scorpion".Shen has been responsible for several paid killings on

a worldwide basis.

Maria informs her husband Sheriff Earl Lawson that she is not

coming home.Earl flies to Trinidad to find his wife.He winds up

being a joint assassin with the Scorpion,Dani Street.

Several attempts are made to kill Prime Minister Ramsing but

Broxton saves the Prime Minister each time.The sinister force behind the assassination attempts is Attorney General George

Chandee.He is on the payroll of the Salizar drug ring.

Can't believe I paid that much money for this book

I agree with the one-star reviewer. What is so special about this book? I barely managed to finish it and for the first time in my life I put a book IN the box to donate to the Public Library book sale. I can't believe I spent that much money for a lousy paperback, but I chose it based on the high ratings. Don't believe them! If you really want to read it, find a used copy. There are much better storytellers out there.

This is the first complete English translation of the fourth chapter of the esoteric Buddhist Kalacakra Tantra text and its eleventh-century commentary, the Stainless Light (Vimalaprabha). Building upon the Chapter on the Cosmos and particularly the Chapter on the Individual (AIBS, 2004)―which provide the theoretical background to the Chapter on Sadhana, and the reasons for the given structure and contents of the Kalacakra sadhana practice―this fourth chapter illuminates the intricate connection between the practice of the Kalacakra sadhana and the Kalacakra Tantra's worldview. This fourth chapter describes Buddhist Tantric generation stage practices (utpatti-krama), including instructions on protecting the place of practice, the meditative practices of the origination of the body and the deities abiding in the body, and the diverse mundane sadhanas designed to induce the mundane siddhis. It then also describes the more advanced Buddhist Tantric completion stage practices (sampatti-krama), designed to lead directly to the attainment of buddhahood, called here the "Adibuddha" (Primordial Buddha).

The translation is supplemented with annotations and references to Tibetan commentaries and other esoteric Buddhist works. It also includes the first critical edition of the Mongolian version of the fourth chapter.

Best Book of the series

If you cruise, or are planning a cruise, I cannot recommend this series of 3 cruising books more highly as a compliment to your shipboard experience. Only someone who has worked on the inside can really tell the story, and Bruns has the background, academic credentials, and first-hand experience to tell it. I really think that if you buy the set for your shipboard reading, you will come home with an enhanced experience.

UNSINKABLE MISTER BROWN has the best writing of the 3 "Cruise" books BDB has so far produced. Even so, since Bruns has written chronologically of his foodservice period, his art auction period, and now his Romania/Bianca time, I do strongly recommend you begin the series with CRUISE CONFIDENTIAL as this is a roman-flueve composition, and you need to have the background from the first two books in order to appreciate the events in this third book.(Rumor is that there will be a 4th book in this series.)

In UNSINKABLE Bruns breaks away from challenges of working on a cruise ship and the shipboard art auction business in order to focus on his long, difficule pursuit of the Romanian Bianca, who also works on the Carnival ships. Was he successful? I don't write spoilers.

In response to another reviewer, there IS in fact a picture of Bianca (and many other people from Bruns cruise days) on his internet site. The pictures are a very nice enhancement to the reading experience of his books.

You won't put this one down!

This is the third book in the Cruise Confidential series. I would recommend reading them in order; Cruise Confidential, Ship for Brains, then this one. Good luck finding a point where you want to put this book down. I read until my eyes gave out, laughing out loud at times, totally riveted and not wanting to miss each new part of the story. We are Carnival Cruise Line Platinum level cruisers, and the insider view of a crew member's life is fascinating. I was also enthralled with the stories of the author's travels all over the world, with such detail about the amazing sights. If you love cruising or travel, these books are not to be missed!

Down-home fun read

G. P. Marrow has written a good down-home sensational book about farm days. Ms. Marrow brings laughter and fun to farm days long ago. Reader's will delight with Ms. Marrow's vivid accounts of family and friends whose funny antics from years ago are written for reader's to enjoy. You will love this book because it's chalked with great historical content. I highly endorse her book. She is a wonderful writer. Not only Comprehensive, but a delightful surprise

This cookbook is a rarity. Not only does it combine all the information you'll ever need about crabs from King to Blue, but the recipes are sensational. They are span the unique to the tried and true with bold text and easy to prepare dishes. The read alone makes you salivate. The recipe book also comes with sides and condiment recipes to compliment every dish.

If you love crabs and you enjoy preparing delights in your kitchen, then this is the cookbook for you.

I'm buying them up for gifts as I know some of my family members would steal my own copy away if they could. This book for crabs will end up a classic, just like Fanny Farmer is the staple for every new bride.

I've just completed reading Christine Quinn's "A Craving For Crab". I say reading because much of this superb cookbook reads as if it were a novel...a well illustrated novel. Ms. Quinn introduces us to her life, family, friends, crab rustlers and all things CRAB. A thorough discussion of North American crab species is fascinating. Seventy or more excellent crab based recipies are presented including regional favorites and step by step instructions on successfully hosting a crab feed. Additional delicious recipies include Grandmas coleslaw, old fashioned potato salad and key lime pie. Buy this truly excellent book today or face a lifetime of second-rate preparation of this delicacy from the sea. Congratulations to Christine Quinn. Her cookbook, A Craving For Crab, is the most complete book devoted to this wonderful seafood. It is well done - informative and filled with interesting and delicious recipes - also well illustrated. I gave a copy to my sister for her birthday, and she and her friends also give it 5 stars.

Cannot praise this book highly enough!

I'll admit, I bought THE HEBREW KID AND THE APACHE MAIDEN for my 12 year-old nephew, but I couldn't resist taking a peek myself. And, once I started it, I was hooked; couldn't put it down.

Author Robert Avrech has crafted a marvelous plot. He weaves together the history of the Jews with details about traditional anti-Semitism--both in Europe and in the United States--along with lore about the American Wild West of the 19th Century.

This novel is a work which combines great imagination with scholarly research.

Every page here is an adventure, starting with Apaches on the war path and moving on to Mexican desperadoes. The reader, especially the younger reader, definitely will learn much about the Jewish religion as a result of reading this book.

According to the author's biography, he already is a successful screenwriter. I have read novels written by great authors, and I have seen screenplays written by great screenwriters, and THE HEBREW KID AND THE APACHE MAIDEN is the equal of the best of them.

Robert Avrech dedicated this book to the memory of his son.

A Metaphor For One Man's Journey Through Hollywood

I read this novel by my friend Robert J. Avrech straight through in two hours Friday night. I laughed out loud a dozen times. It is terrific and a much-needed contribution to fiction for kids.

A soldier approaches the frum family.

"You get back to your Cossack friends before I knock your head in, you dirty little sheygitz." Mama lifted a cast iron skillet.

"Please, ma'am, I'm not a sheygitz. My name is Schulman. I'm a landsman. A Jew."

...............

The mother yells at this Indian maiden Lozen. "So you be careful who you call a witch. Let me tell you something, you might scare the goyim with your whoops and hollers and guns and knives, but to me you're just a little shicksah pisher. And a little advice, maidel: you should spend a bit more time on your looks... You think a man is going to want to marry a wild girl? You should be thinking about a shidduch, not riding around like you're on the warpath!"

Mama was practically shouting. Lozen nodded mutely.

The book is written from the perspective of Ariel, a 12-year old about to celebrate his bar mitzvah in the Wild West of the 1870s.

It's clearly crafted by an accomplished screenwriter. All the scenes have conflict and move the story forward. Most of the chapters end with a hook that compells you to keep reading. The story often heads in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.

Dialogue is an Avrech strength. His emails are frequently hilarious when he paints his life with spare dialogue.

While Ariel is the book's most sympathetic character, momma and Doc Holliday are the most entertaining.

The book reminds me a great deal of Robert's movie A Stranger Among Us with its romantic view of Jewish mysticism. Both works have lead characters named Ariel who dabble in kaballah.

I love the absurd tensions of an Orthodox family trying to deal with the goyim in the Wild West.

The book comes out of a robust confidence that must flow from Robert's life that Orthodox Judaism is strong enough to tackle the wider world. I believe that Robert Avrech (who comes from a long line of Orthodox rabbis and his son Ariel would've carried on that tradition) is the first Orthodox screenwriter of feature films (with Brian De Palma's Body Double in 1984). In the world in which he grew up, Hollywood was at best foolishness.

So Robert must've learned at his secular college, and at his secular kibbutz in Israel, and in secular Hollywood, how to interact with non-Jews, righteous and otherwise, while maintaining his Orthodoxy.

Robert's life reminds me of My Name is Asher Lev, probably my favorite Jewish novel.

I read The Hebrew Kid for fun, but I reflect on it as an allegory of Robert's journey through the non-Orthodox world.

Like the frum family in his novel, Robert has long strived to practice Orthodox Judaism within a frequently hostile environment.

Avrech is not of the "Yossi Klein Halevi school of Orthodox Judaism," which simply posits that Orthodoxy is the language he learned to communicate with God. Robert is authentically Orthodox (literally means correct belief) in the sense that he truly believes in the Thirteen Principles of Maimonidies, and not just in some figurative sense. I know. I've grilled him on these.

I believe that Yossi and Robert both went to Brooklyn Talmudic Academy, aka Yeshiva University High School of Brooklyn. Yossi writes about it in his Memoirs of a Jewish Extremist.

The lead Jewish characters in this novel have meaningful interactions with non-Jews. Their worldview divides people not just along Jew and non-Jew, but most significantly along the lines of moral and immoral. The Jews learn from the goyim and vice versa. The Jews constantly face pressures for which they know no immediate halachic answer, but instead have to search themselves and their sacred texts for direction.

Because they live in the real world, the Jews in the novel sin. They're real. They're not cookie-cutter characters like much religious fiction for teens.

Three years ago, Robert told me he could never write a novel.

Three years ago, Robert didn't have a son who was dying.

As he worked on this novel, Robert used to read portions to Ariel, who laughed when he had the strength.

Adventure story that teaches love and compassion

I met screenwriter Robert J. Avrech and his wife for the first time before Christmas, and he presented me with a copy of his book. He hoped to learn the impact his words would have on a non-Jewish California girl. Today, I emailed him the following message, which I hope will be useful to persons considering his book as a delightful addition to their bookshelves and their lives:

I want you to know that I finally had some quiet time yesterday afternoon/evening to sit alone and enjoy your book.  That the story revolves around a Jewish family is in no way a road block to enjoying the pages.  In fact, I was incredibly grateful for the glossary at the end of the book, which I referred to again and again, and the story not only satisfied my thirst for adventure but also for cultural knowledge.

The empathy and compassion with which you drew the characters -- Jews, goyims, gamblers and warriers alike -- enabled the story to be appealing cross-culturally.  When Ariel brought this message home in the last few pages at his bat mitzvah, I was moved to tears.  Your story is really all about love, isn't it?  I feel it on every page.  I can see that this book will be appealing to audiences young and old, because it is so fun to accompany your characters on their journey, and there is also deeper meaning on every page.  Thank you for sharing this with me.

This volume presents a detailed catalogue of the extensive Cotsen Collection through high-quality images and illustrations of the mirrors in their approximate chronological sequence. Volume II, a set of eleven scholarly essays, goes further to investigate these mirrors as a study collection.

Guided by the conviction that this particular constellation of mirrors may lead to substantive insights that cannot easily be obtained otherwise, the leading scholars who contributed to this volume used the materials in Volume I as a point of departure for explorations of topics of their own choice. The resulting diversity of the chapters is notable, with coverage ranging from a discussion of Han mirror inscriptions as modular texts to an analysis of mirrors inlaid with mother of pearl and the findings are as novel and stimulating as they are preliminary.
