About the Author
MIKE CAMPBELL has been an advisor and consultant to the senior housing and care industry for more than 18 years. He is the founder of Campbell Consulting Services, LLC where he continues to serve clients in the senior housing and care industry. As a CPA, he has provided accounting and auditing services to various health care clients. In his post at Ernst & Young s National Post Acute Care Consulting Practice, Campbell coordinated financial feasibility studies for senior housing and care projects across the country. He was also co-founder of Karrington Advisory Services, where he developed new and innovative market area assessment methodologies for the assisted living and Alzheimer s/dementia care settings. He holds a B.A. in business administration from Ohio University, is the father of three daughters, and resides near Cleveland.

Thorough and complete - a valuable resource!

I honestly wish I could have read this book before my father's health began to seriously decline. Had that been the case, it's likely my mother and I would not have felt so overwhelmed and as if scrambling all the time to find the best options for his care.
In WHEN MOM AND DAD NEED HELP, by author Mike Campbell, the adult children of aging parents are fortunate to have a most valuable resource at hand. Thorough and complete, this book clearly covers the wealth of options available to you when your parents need help. Mr. Campbell reveals the pros and cons of everything from having your parents move in with you, to adult day and home care services, to independent and assisted living, as well as dementia care, nursing facilities, and hospice care. He also details relative costs of each option you could possibly choose with your aging parents, besides where support opportunities may be found.
Sooner or later, nearly everyone will find himself or herself in the situation of being either an aging parent, or an adult child of an aging parent. What Mr. Campbell has done with WHEN MOM AND DAD NEED HELP is to give us all a viable and exhaustive roadmap for successfully traversing these difficult and stressful times. My expectation is that this book will prove itself a valuable resource to more and more people in the years to come. A must read for adult children

When Mom and Dad Need Help is a must read. It makes planning for aging parents easy to understand and it also makes every child realize the importance in planning now for your parents. With the current state of healthcare uncertain, this book is a helpful guide to making sure your parents are taken care of. Along with financial perspective for your parents, the book also provides training and knowledge that adult children need to know. It provides relevant questions to ask and observations to make when evaluating long term health care facilities for your parents, as well as the questions and concerns you must address with your parents. We all know aging is not something we want to think about, but this book makes it simple. The writing is in straightforward layman's terms - not medical and financial jargon, which makes it easy to understand and entertaining to read. Definitely recommend this book to all adult children - YOUR PARENTS DESERVE IT.
