"Departed Pets" will amaze you!

I got a copy of this book as soon as it came out, and I sat down to read it immediately ... and I didn't put it down till I was finished! This book is so complelling you just have to see what the next story is about. I've seen lots of books on true ghost stories, but none that combine my two favorite things: Animals and the paranormal! Great, great idea. Can't wait for the sequel. Warning: If you really love animals, it will make you cry in some parts.

buy at your own risk

I bought this book because I love my pets. I expected gentle stories of loved pets who died from old age or of an unspecified illness and then came back to comfort their people. Instead I found stories where the animals died brutal deaths, (one was murdered) or died of neglect, or in a couple of cases, of outright cruelty that made me sick. Several died from being hit by cars. I don't know what the editors were thinking to include those stories. One story was an awful one about a disfunctional family whose murdered cat could be heard meowing after its death. I hope those people hear that cat crying till they die. If you like ghost stories then this book is okay, but for animal lovers it's toxic.

Great, heartwarming stories but I have on issue with this book.

I loved all the stories in this book but there was a reason I gave it four out of five stars. At the end of each story, a short bio was given about the author. I noticed many of them were either novelists, poets, magazine writers, etc. which makes me wonder about the validity of the stories. Are they in fact true accounts or merely fictional? It certainly casts a doubt in my mind.
