Love these!

I got several sets of these cards and I love all of them. I punched a hole in the top corner and put a binder ring on them. Now I can tote them around in my diaper bag! These are great and I love how many signs I'm going to be able to teach my LO!

Love these cards...

I think these cards are great! We can't imagine life without baby sign language in our house. My son and I attend a Sign, Say & Play class each week and at 13 months he knows about 30+ signs. Now I am looking for new signs to continue to expand his 'vocabulary'. These cards were a good investment to expand our knowledge. The only drawback to these cards is that they aren't toddler friendly. My son has already bent a few cards.

I think these cards are great - I love them - I love the description of the sign - I don't think think the picture description part is the best but the black and white part of of the description of the actually signing is perfect and understandable.

This book has been an inspiration to me in many ways. It is so encouraging to read about women who have truly risen to the top. In a business world that is incredibly male-dominated, it is empowering to hear of these nine women, scattered all over the country, with amazing stories of success. I have entertained the idea of opening my own business, but rejected it, thinking that there were too many obstacles. Now, after reading this book, I realize that those women are not tht different from me. Instead of dreaming about opening a business, I am ready to get out there and do it!

About the Author
Raul Guisado's unique and proven approach to strength and conditioning has been developed through a combination of his athletic experience, education, and success as an Olympic coach. He grew up in California to become an accomplished bicycle racer, ski racer, and surfer and has been coaching athletes in a variety of sports since 1989. Raul studied kinesiology at Colorado University–Boulder, has a degree in physiology from the University of California–Santa Barbara, and is pursuing a graduate degree in sport psychology. He is a USA Cycling–licensed expert cycling coach, a U.S. Skiing Association professional ski coach, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. From 1995 to 1999, Raul worked for the U.S. Ski Team as a World Cup/Olympic coach and strength and conditioning coach. He was a coach in the 1998, 2002, and 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

Very informative

The author clearly makes the case for the need to cross train. He explains in a very concise manner how stability, balance and strength are all interrelated and they all affect your performance as an endurance athlete.

The suggested exercises are all well explained.

It would be nice if there were a checklist of suggested equipment for home use ("yoga mat, stability ball, resistance bands, 5 and 10 lb dumbells...") but this is a minor miss.

Unfortunately the book didn't include the ambition to DO said exercises. ;-)

Great Advice. Lots of tips you can put to use today

Took about two hours to read, but loaded with tips on how to get started in content marketing.

Some of the tips are basic: Write more, build a list, set up a publication schedule.

Some of the advice is more focused:

1) Stick to one idea per blog post. Don't over complicate things by giving too much info.
2) Don't try to please everyone. Write for your ideal reader.
3) Think about your brand before you start broadcasting content. Look at it this way, what if you gave a party and everyone came to meet the guy in your writing, only to discover you were somebody else. Be sincere, and be yourself. If you're writing is fast paced, humorous, and off the wall... That's who you should be.
4) Vary your content. Write thought pieces, information pieces, and how to's.
5) If you're stumped, recycle your old content, or curate someone else's content.

Bottom line: The book offers great info you can put to use today to improve your online content. If you worry you have nothing to say, the author has a rah-rah section to get you past that.

Marlaine C. Smith, RN, PhD, AHN-BC, FAAN, is Dean and Helen K. Persson Eminent Scholar in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University (FAU). From 1988 to 2006 she was on the faculty of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, serving as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Director of the Center for Integrative Caring Practice for six years. She has been a nurse educator since 1976 with other faculty appointments at Duquesne University, Pennsylvania State University, and LaRoche College in Pittsburgh. Dr. Smith's research has focused on outcomes of touch therapies as an expression of caring. Indispensable book for the aspiring nurse herbalist

I started reading the nurse herbalist and I had a hard time putting it down!
I wish this book was available many years ago.
Dr. Libster is sharing very honestly and anecdotally her experience with herbs and her difficulties dealing with (or gaining acceptance from) main stream physicians and nurses.
She has courageously opened a door within the health care system for all of us that aspire to practice as nurse herbalists.
Thanks to her research and her veracity, She has re-established the validity of herbal practice within the profession of nursing.
We owe to Dr. Libster the organization of the practice of nurse herbalist today.
In chapter one she describes different models of nurse herbalist practice.
In chapter two she explains the pertinence of integrating herbs into health care despite the difficulty to abide by scientific research protocols to provide evidences.
Chapter three to seven provide guidelines, rooted in nursing tradition and in several healing traditions, to start the practice of nurse herbalist.
The book is very easy to read and offers great insights for the nursing herbalist practice.
Dr. Libster does not hesitate to share her failures and her successes as a promoter of plant based medicine.
Whether nurses wish to vulgarize the use of herbs or to actively practice herbalism, I highly recommend reading this book.
Reading The Nurse Herbalist is uplifting and encouraging for those, like myself, who intend to include herbalism in their nursing practice.

This book may seem like a joke from the cover, but inside are fantastic recipes ranging from cooking on a stick to gourmet dishes that can be made in your kitchen. The author is funny and practical. Great marinades, drinks, and even how to butcher your wild game can be found among the pages. I have purchased this book as gifts and will do so again in the future!

Good book for kids.

If one is a bit alternative in their belief systems I recommend this book. It's not that far off from mine though so I will attempt to explain it. This book is set on the premise that before you were born you lived in heaven with God, other children that have yet to be born and angels and that is "home" and that life is a grand adventure here. When one dies-but it the author doesn't phrase it such-one comes back home. It's phrased "when you have completed your adventure". The other message is that God is always with you and watching you. I've no problem with any of those messages, but some people might. Therefore I mention this.

This book has lovely illustrations and a very sweet message. It is very visually pleasing. Overall the book is very well done.

There's only one thing that I wish were a bit different. The setting is on a farm and grandma delivers the baby at home. I wished that happened in reality but even my son at six asked if that really still happens. So it distracted my six year old to a long conversation about where babies where born. He got hung up on babies being born at home and grandma delivering and it was hard to carry on with the intended message.

In this shocking, and shockingly entertaining, memoir of a life in basketball, Dawkins, a former NBA star with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets in the 1970s and '80s, takes readers from his earliest days in a poor Florida backwater through his first games as an 18-year-old NBA whippersnapper to later years of hard playing and harder partying. Dawkins has many professional claims to fame-he is generally credited with elevating the dunk to an art form and being the first to jump from high school to the NBA. But the best reason to read this book has nothing to do with who Dawkins is and everything to do with what he says. In an age when even athlete bad boys tend to be bland clich‚-machines, Dawkins is a throwback, a tell-it-like-it-is chatterbox who follows the one-jaw-dropping-anecdote-deserves-another school of thinking, whether he's comparing the merits of pot and cocaine, recounting his childhood pastime of shooting at roosters, giving his estranged wife a broken nose (it was self-defense, he says) or describing the things that affect his play. (He writes, "Me and Kelly were fucking so much that I could hardly shoot the ball, but I was rebounding like I was on welfare and the ball was made of gold.") He gets away with most of it because of a lighthearted tone and a playfully unapologetic style, resulting in a book that is as likely to make readers laugh as make them cringe. The book's messy, rambling charm wears thin toward the end, when Dawkins begins to feel like a caricature. But he redeems himself with straight talk about serious issues, too, like the double standards of race in basketball. Raw, provocative and as unsubtle as a shattering backboard, this is a look at how it used to be-from a man who was most definitely there.

Solid, but lacking the 'Thunder'

If you want an entertaining look at Darryl Dawkins and basketball, this is a good choice to read. Dawkins takes the reader on a fast-paced, fun ride through the many stops on his roller-coaster career. This is not to say thet Dawkins isn't honest about the sometimes painful truth. He does admit some less-than-flattering things, but mostly he just glosses over his own weaknesses or shortcomings. Given his history and reputation, this was pretty much expected.

Dawkins does succeed in shedding some light on some interesting teams and people. He also shows some serious insight and reflection at various times of the book, just not nearly enough times.

DAWKINS TELLS THE STORY OF HIS LIFE IN THIS EASY TO READ TALE. I FOUND HIM TO BE FUNNY, CANDID AND INTERESTING. HE USES A LOT OF WORDS AND TERMS THAT MAY NOT BE FOR ANYONE UNDER 18. DAWKINS WAS PURE POWER FOR THE 76ERS DURING HIS CAREER WITH THEM. HE COULD BREAK BACKBOARDS AND SHATTER THE GLASS AROUND THEM. HE WAS STRONG AS A BULL BUT GOT IN FOUL TROUBLE VERY OFTEN. HE CAME TO THE PROS STRAIGHT FROM HIGH SCHOOL. VERY UNUSUAL FOR THE TIMES. HIS LIFE OFF THE COURT IS MORE INTERESTING THAN ON. HIS VARIOUS ADDICTIONS TO ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND SEX HURT HIS PLAY WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE THAN IT WAS. I LIKE THIS BOOK BUT BE AWARE OF THE LANGUAGE AND SEX TERMS.

A Book That Could Use More Game

Though Dawkins didn't have the most immortal NBA career, he does have the insights and understanding of the game to write a potentially powerhouse book. He deserves his place in history as the league's original entertainer and showman, and he did have a stone classic moment when he shattered the backboard to smithereens during a monster dunk. Dawkins is both smart enough and funny enough to understand the workings of the game while taking its dark side with a grain of salt. Thus he has great insights into the drug culture in pro sports, racial politics in the NBA of the 70's, the lowdown practices of agents and owners, and poor coaching. He also has many fascinating and illuminating things to say about the current state of the NBA, with its focus on promotion and superstardom rather than the fundamentals of solid team ball.
Darryl's great insights into these matters could have been the basis for a solid and powerful book of sports commentary. But here, the wisdom merely pops up occasionally in the midst of a funny but unremarkable bio about sex and partying, trash talking (though I did love the crack "Dennis Rodman's elevator didn't stop at the top floor"), and especially too much complaining about how referees mistreated him. Meanwhile, who knows what "professional" writer Charley Rosen was doing. We can't expect Dawkins to be a flawless writer, but having a supposed professional on board should have resulted in a book with more credibility. While Darryl's life story can be a fun read, I suggest that he write another book that sticks with commentary and criticism of modern basketball, because he knows what he's talking about. That book would be as powerful as one of his dunks. [~doomsdayer520~]

About the Author
Joseph F. Hurley, CPA, is widely acknowledged as the leading independent expert on Section 529 plans. This book is on the mark and provides a thorough and highly-detailed examination of 529 plans. I highly recommend this for those parents and individuals who want to know how to save for college. Great book!

Best Way to Save for College.....

Has some great ideas for 529 plans. Take home message: it's not hard to get started, and get started NOW if you've not already! I wanted to get a better idea of 529s, as we've had Upromise for quite a while now. Good State-by-State analysis.

Most useful information omitted

This book is fine for people who have never heard of a 529 plan. However, for people who would like to compare 529 plans in order to choose the best investment vehicle for college savings will be sadly disappointed. The book offers a checklist of questions to ask about state 529 plans, yet, in the description of each plan, none of these questions are answered. This requires that you look up or contact each plan individually in order to get these questions answered such as whether the plan allows rollovers, if the plan is IRS qualified and if the plan accepts contributions from non-owners, etc. Also, most people comparing 529 plans would like some general idea of how popular each fund is and how well it has been perfomring recently. The author could have easily summarized this information generally for each plan but chose not to, again, leaving it to the reader to research each plan individually. I would not recommend this book. The information given about each 529 state plan is almost identical across states and, again, information that would distinguish each plan from another is omitted.
