Typical Jeanne Carley quality: excellent!

As with all of her other outstanding calendars, this Jeanne Carley ferret calendar does not disappoint. Some might consider it a "rerun" calendar or a "best of" collection, which it is, but that still doesn't take away from the beautiful quality of the photos and amusing hi-jinks of her well-trained ferret models. More importantly, given that this is the last Jeanne Carley ferret calendar ever, AND her 20th Edition calendar, we couldn't pass up ordering multiple copies of this beautiful calendar.

We will miss your calendars, Jeanne, but look forward to your future photographic endeavors.

Jeanne is the pro of ferret furtography and although i'm going to miss the anticipation and wonder of the yearly calendar she puts out, I cannot wait to see the first furtography table book she's working on. Go Jeanne! Ferrets Worldwide are panting to be a part of your work and mine are avid picture readers so they are sure anxious to see the pictures.

Love the calender (and always have)!

I love the calendar! Have all of hers and love every single one of them. This is the first one I've ordered from Amazon, though, and I'm not thrilled that it arrived with a bent corner. I save all my calendars and would prefer them not to be bent up but since it's only the corner will deal with it but packaging should be a bit better with items that are easily bent like this!

Following return to civilian life and re-entry into college, while keeping exploits as an H-bomb mechanic under wraps, the author advanced his knowledge in the fields of atomic and molecular physics to become a research staff scientist at a National Laboratory. His career of research and development into civilian used of energy, including nuclear fusion and fission, grew from this decision not to pursue weapons further. He chose a new career path with his previous secret exploits continuall undisclosed. This book continues the author's second career as a writer with many books, many magazine and newspaper features, and a multitude of published photos to his credit. Previous books are, Return to Thunder Road, Checkmate, Blood of the Roses, and other titles available from Amazon.com.

I give this book a 4 star simply because I was stationed at CB from 3/66 - 3/68 as a GMT. I never met Mr. Gabbard while I was there. Since he mentions "John", I assume he was in 407...I was in 418. This is book is a good read for someone who was there but is a little too, at times, "off topic" for the casual reader. I tried to get my wife to read it but, after a short time, she gave up saying "It just didn't hold her interest".

This is an older book, but excellent nonetheless. With diagrams and detailed instructions, anyone, makeup artist or otherwise, can apply makeup to modify facial features, highlighting the good and subduing the bad.

The basics - well done

This is a well produced book that covers the basics of makeup application. Not too many pictures and not too many detailed descriptions. The actual content is too little for me to consider a real course book or something I would have students use. I think this must be accompanied by lots on in-class training or other supplements for it to be really worth something. For the home-starter or new student I would get this book, but also several others to supplement the lack of overall content needed to build a confident understanding of the craft.

A guide for the perplexed

Having just passed through tax season, and with daughter approaching her second birthday, I've had a nagging feeling that I ought to be doing something about saving for college. I'd heard about 529 plans, but the number of different plans made them seem overwhelming. Now Harold Simansky's book has set me straight.
I found it easy to read, with sort chapters, good examples, pictures, and charts. Now I have a clear idea of how to save for my daughter's education, and also how her grandparents can best contribute.
We're going to fully fund our retirements accounts (401K, Roth IRAs), lobby the grandparents to set up 529 plans for our daughter, and then revisit matters if we have anything cash left over. It may not pay for everything, but we'll have made our best and smartest effort thanks to "College Costs How Much".
The book is a must-read for anyone with kids who is worrying about how to save for college.

Just the book I was looking for!

This is just the book I was looking for! I have tried other books and websites, but this is the only resource I have found that is easy to understand and provides ALL the information to actually develop a complete plan for my kid's college.
Another big plug for this book is it's simply written and clearly laid-out. At first, I was overwhelmed by all the intricacies of savings and all the information out there that I ended up backing off from the whole thing. With this book, I wasn't intimidated to pick it up and get going. I took it a chapter at a time, and it ended up being much easier than I thought. I would even say it was fun to read and feel like I was learning something and taking charge of my own money. Bottom line is this book helped me be a responsible parent. My kids will be better off thanks to this book.

This encyclopedia, edited by the deputy director of the National Science Foundation's Division of Information and Intelligent Systems, compiles 186 articles on the maturing field of human-computer interaction (HCI). Topics cover applications (e.g., Classrooms, Law enforcement, Telecommuting), computer hardware (Keyboard, Liquid crystal displays, Mouse), fields of study (Ergonomics, Sociology and HCI), methods (Gesture recognition, Icons, Natural-language processing), societal issues (Cybersex, Workforce), and other subjects (Arpanet, Mosaic, Website design).

Article length averages 3-5 pages, with some longer articles, such as the 10-page History of HCI. Many entries are divided with boldface subheadings, enabling users to quickly identify main elements.

Names of article authors appear at the end of each article, usually followed by a list of see also references and a list of additional readings. Readings consist of books, articles, and Internet sites. Figures, tables, and photos are clear and aid understanding. Fifty-eight short sidebar entries provide added perspective within select articles. For example, the article Education in HCI includes a sidebar titled "A Personal Story--Bringing HCI into the 'Real World.'"

Both volumes include an alphabetical list of entries at the front and a set index in the back. William Sims Bainbridge is deputy director of the Division of Information and Intelligent Systems of the National Science Foundation, after having directed the division's Human Computer Interaction, Universal Access, and Knowledge and Cognitive Systems programs. He has represented the social and behavioral sciences on five advanced technology initiatives: High Performance Computing and Communications, Knowledge and Distributed Intelligence, Digital Libraries, Information Technology Research, and Nanotechnology. Bill is also the author of ten books, four textbook-software packages, and some 150 shorter publications in information science, social science of technology, and the sociology of culture. He earned his doctorate from Harvard University.
