About the Author
Rusen Meylani is a researcher, educator and academician who has taught at several distinguished K-12, undergraduates and graduate institutions in Europe. He has received many awards in mathmatics and physics. He holds a Master of Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree and is well published in his field. This book's problems are MUCH harder than the real test's problems

I don't know why this book's title calls the tests "Realistic." A quick look at the questions reveals what the preface states clearly: these questions are much harder than questions on the real Math Level 2 test. Although the math level is the same, this book's problems require more steps and more insight. Even if you know the math this book's problems will make you think. Do not buy this book if all you want is some sample tests.

On the other hand, if you want to practice, if you are willing to spend time to learn the math better by working problems, or if, like me, you just enjoy flexing your math muscles, then do buy the book. If you do the problems, your Math Level II score will improve. Don't buy the book for a quick fix, because it won't be quick. Do buy the book if you're willing to work on your math.

Recommended for a math teacher

I teach high school math and tutor on the side. I picked up this book because of the number of practice test. My student and I are on test #4 now. I find the questions adequately difficult. The solution is not always clear. This is a good product if you have a decent teacher to guide you through the problems you don't understand, but not for you to teach yourself.

Great problems!

If you want practice tests for the SAT Subject Test Math Level 2, then these tests may not suit your needs. If you're just looking to beat the exam, then go with PR and the official SAT subject practice tests. Why, then, did I give this book 5 stars?

It's great for shaping you mathematically. If you want to become a more flexible problem solver using the techniques of the Math Level 2 examination, then this is the book to get. Each problem requires more insight and more skill than those on the real Math Level 2 exam. I would reccomend these problems for math competition practice (local math leagues or, to some extent, the AMCs, although those are harder than these). It's also good for people who just enjoy problem solving. I didn't start using this book until I was long done with my SAT/SAT II's and I find that doing a test every once in a while is a great way to sharpen my math problem solving skills.

So, if you love math and want to test your ability to solve more difficult problems and, in general, get better at math, then this book will help. Oh, and you'll probably get 700+ on those silly SAT/SAT II math exams to boot :)

pretty darn good!

In short, I give it a 10 at the very beginning... slowing to a 9 throughout the middle, and ending with a 7.
I am in admiration of the author's intelligence. I enjoyed the book very much, however there seemed to be WAY too many unanswered questions. I enjoyed the book tremendously, but it kind of left me feeling a little empty... thinking um.. why?

Boy did this one leave me hanging and wondering...what the heck? It started off in a great way...continued to the middle without putting it down...mind racing to read the ending - then when I finished I just closed the book and thought...what? Don't bother with this unless you like all your questions unanswered and no periods at the ends of sentences.

great poetry

Kilian McDonnell's books of poetry are so unique and insightful it is hard to find their comparison. This book follows the same pattern as his book Yahweh's other Shoe and Swiftly Lord you are not. (it is also like his newest book wrestling with God). McDonnell never takes a conventional angle on a biblical story and he creatively makes God a conventional character in his poems. I highly recommend him and find his work food for my soul.

Another great book of poetry. I highly recommend all his books. What I love most about his poetry is how he isn't afraid to wrestle with God about things. There is an authentic honesty to his poetry that strikes a deep chord in my heart.

A science fiction explanation about how the world could be created in 7 days

This book made my head hurt. But, it was interesting, so I kept reading. This book is about a bunch of kids at "Planet Academy" who are in charge of creating the Earth.

The biggest thing that bugged me about this book is the same thing that bugs me about The Sims. You know how in The Sims, it takes you 2 hours to go to the bathroom, and sometimes it's just more time effective to wet yourself in your living room and then go take a shower? The Sims just isn't a realistic simulation of life, and this book just doesn't have its "Universe" held together very cohesively.

For instance, how many people are in Planet Academy? Each team is assigned a name of a common color (pink, blue, green), and there are 4 people per team. So assuming there are no more than 10 common colors, there would be about 40 people in Planet Academy. The auditorium that they gather in for class seemed to hold about 300-500 people though. And, these people in Planet Academy are supposed to be the spirit population of Earth, so there really should be about 15-30 billion of them.

But the thing that bugged me most was how time just didn't add up in this book. The bad team were able to get to the planet, finish their assignment, and come back to torment the good team, while the good team had a 10-minute conversation in the classroom. 10 minutes just isn't enough for any kind of round trip interplanetary travel, even if you can go the speed of light.

This was also obviously a science-fiction version of the Mormon story of premortal life, but the names were changes just slightly. This is probably to avoid any hint at blasphemy, but I would have liked it better if the book just came out and said what things were, since it's obvious what the story's about. Here's a list of the changed names:
*The Great Commander = God
*Prince Shepard = Jesus, the Good Shepherd
*Luciel = Lucifer
*Cryptons = 1/3 of hosts of heaven that were led astray
*Celestium core = Earth's spirit
*Grand Council = Council in Heaven
*Sage = Adam
*Diamond = Eve
*Hospital = The temple
*Stage 1-6: Days 1-6 of creation
*Planet Academy: Pre-Earth life
*Being University: Earth life

Pros:
+It's a very short book, only about 110 pages of book.
+It's a fun, interesting read. I kept turning the pages to find out what happens next
+Faith-promoting Mormon fiction

Cons:
-Space travel in this isn't very well thought out. Every solar system in this book takes about fifteen minutes to get to, and they supposedly travel at exactly the speed of light. So, maybe they're in the center of the galaxy, where stars are much closer together. But Earth gets moved into its solar system
-The number of people in this Academy didn't add up
