About the Author
Wilfred Grenfell arrived in Labrador in 1892 as the agent of the National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. His immediate task was to provide a system of medical care for migratory fishermen living apart from their Newfoundland communities. But in the course of his life, Grenfell proceeded to build a complex medical and philanthropic organization that still bears his name a century later. By 1908, he had already laid the foundation for a missionary domain with its headquarters in St. Anthony and was expanding his influence through home industries and other social reforms designed to transform the region economically.

If you're in the mood for something different

D. Dr. Wilfred Grenfelt, a medical missionary, was traveling by dog
team in Newfoundland in 1908 to meet a patient . . . when he took
a short cut, he became stranded on an ice pan . . . his exciting tale
is told in ADRIFT ON AN ICE PAN, a book he wrote that I recently
had the pleasure of coming across in a CD version.
I wonder what I would do if faced with a similar situation, and that's
what made this story worth pursuing . . . In particular, I could almost
feel the cold he faced that drove him to sacrifice and then skin three of
his dogs to clothe himself against the elements.
Would I have done something similar? Perhaps, especially if it meant
saving my own life and five other dogs that would surely have perished
had it not been for Grenfelt's quick thinking.

Gripping Survival Story

A gripping story from a famous Christian worker. Quick reads like this are guaranteed to make you want to know more about Christian workers of the past, their biographies, and the many things they faced. I think I highlighted half the book.
This ebook is free, and free from typos. One minor note though: the pictures, while linked, didn't show up in my Kindle or Cloud Reader.
